Lawmakers down state want to make gun owners register their weapons every 3-5 years in an effort to have greater control over weapons. This is a result, they say, of the Binghamton shootings.

On the surface I thought this might be a good idea, mostly because it’s a way to make money and help the deficit. I also get the intent of such a law… limit idiots from having guns.

After thinking about it though, I HATE this idea. Despite my huge concerns for people with guns, it is our right to carry them. See the 2nd amendment of our constitution. Don’t roll your eyes, it’s a big deal.

If they pass a law that says you have to register your gun every 5 years then what do you, the responsible gun owner, get in return? The state will say they’ll use the new income to help the budget and fund state projects, but how many times have they thrown taxes at us and then pissed it all away on non-sense? Too many.

I like compromise. If you want gun owners to re-register every 5 years, fine… but how about something in return? Allow gun owners less restriction on what they can own. If a guy wants a fully automatic AK47,  then let him (or her) have it, and in return make them register it consistently. That way the people get their guns and the government gets their oversight and money. Look, I know for gun owners this is not a perfect situation, but compromise is key with a lot of political issues. Don’t ask for the farm, but ask for some of the cows.

The other thing that blows me away is the people who introduced this bill are State Senator Eric Schneiderman, 31st district of Manhattan, and Assemblywoman Amy Pauling, 88th District of Westchester County. Both are down state politicians who are completely out of touch with what happens upstate regarding this issue. It’s easy to make policy when you are in rich communities that have had these laws for quite some time. To insist upon upstate that this is the proper policy for them is insulting. New York City’s issues are completely different from Rochester’s. We have a high murder rate because of drugs and ILLEGAL gun purchasing, something the current system does nothing to solve. We have more rural areas and much less crowding. We also get over taxed, under paid, and pay fee after fee after fee. Enough is enough.

This sort of policy making is short sighted and is another example of the state taking more of your rights and money away.

I know the intent is to stop a crazy perosn, like the one in Binghamton, from shooting a place up. That’s a noble cause. The reality is you can’t stop crazy people from being crazy. You can take everyone’s gun away and guns will still end up in a crazy person’s hand. Or they’ll come up with a different method all together. Don’t punish the many for the actions of a few. I’d also like to point out that this proposed law will solve nothing in terms of violence. Most gun violence is a result of illegally possessing a gun. Ugh, headache.

I’m all about local sports events, and this is one that’s right up my ally. I’m going through a little bit of football withdrawal, so to fulfill my needs I’m going to check out the 41st Annual New York Rugby Conference Upstate Tournament.

Yup, RUGBY. If you’ve never seen a game of Rugby you really should. Guys AND girls beat the crap out of each other all in the name of scoring a touchdown. It’s like football without all the play calling and organization. LOVE IT.

For info and the schedule, check out:

Today, April 13th, is Dyngus Day.

What the heck is Dyngus Day?

“Historically a Polish-American tradition, Dyngus Day celebrates the end of the often restrictive observance of lent and the joy of Easter. Over the decades, Dyngus Day has become a wonderful holiday to celebrate Polish-American culture, heritage and traditions.” (http://www.dyngusdaybuffalo.com)

Buffalo, NY holds the largest Dyngus Day celebration in, well, the world! The best part of it is when the girls literally beat the crap out of the guys with pussy willows as a way of saying, “hey you’re cute, wanna talk?” Now they aren’t supposed to beat them, but rather tap them. The guys are supposed to spray the girls with water as a sign of them saying they like a girl… lightly of course. HA!

To all my Polish breatherin out there and everyone from my home town of Buffalo, HAPPY DYNGUS DAY!

For more information, because I’m just an Irish dumbass, go to: http://www.dyngusdaybuffalo.com/

I want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes this past Tuesday, December 2nd. I turned 27, meaning I am no longer in my mid 20’s and am certainly feeling more like an actual adult now. Its kind of a weird feeling but I like it, oddly enough.

My fiancee Jessi was amazing to me! She sent me a fruit basket at work and bought me dinner at the Olive Garden. She also got me an awesome hat that is a replica of one from the show “Firefly.” (CLICK HERE) See…

If you’ve never seen the show, they made a movie based on it called “Serenity.” (CLICK HERE) It was an awesome show that Fox canceled. Of course Fox is the same network that canceled Family Guy once upon a time, so that should tell you what kind of geniuses they are!

Jessi also got me a Flip Mino Pocket Video Camera!!! You can see it for yourself, and buy it if you want, by CLICKING HERE. I have a black base model and am VERY happy!!

As a result I will finnally be doing more video blogging… here is my first one in ma good while.. ENJOY!!!

I love women. Like all men, I love taking a gander at a woman’s goodies when downtown. It’s not that I’m a pig, but when you ladies wear things that literally are see-through and show pieces of your ass cheeks, what do you want from me and the 10 other guys staring at you?

On Halloween, the downtown scene becomes more than the meat market it typically is… it becomes an all out slut fest.

Do women have any creativity when it comes to Halloween costumes anymore? Literally every girl I saw downtown last night was a naughty nurse, cop, construction worker, vampire… hell I saw a naughty cell phone costume last night.

Every one of you ladies looked like a hooker. While I love seeing skin like any man would, this is really lame for an engaged guy who can’t touch.

Granted, guys can be lame too… I didn’t even dress up, so boo to me, but at least I didn’t look like a hooker.

I saw a lot of guys in funny stuff. My buddies Steve and Burly dressed in drag. I saw a group of guys go as robots; watching girls freak them on the dance floor was one of the funniest things ever. Creative, plain and simple.

Guys are superior at dressing up for Halloween… or am I wrong?

I saw this on 10NBC’s site today…

You can get the whole story by CLICKING HERE…

I LOVE this logo. It’s an awesome retro look that takes the Rochester community back to its roots….   Plus, as much as I love Wegman’s, the current logo feels lifeless.

Question though: does this mean the outside of the stores could be re-modeled too? By that I mean  not just the logo but the entire thing.
