You may (or may not) have noticed that I haven’t been on the air this week.  I’ve been busy moving my family out to Victor.  I wanted a few days to get my kids settled in and make everything comfortable and familiar for them.  The house is JUST starting to feel like we aren’t camping out somewhere, so I think it’s been worth it.

While I’m away, my buddy Ferris has been kind enough to fil in for me.  He likes doing it because it’s a chance for him to use my own show to poke fun at me.  He’s a dick. That’s why we get along so well. Evidently he thought it would be cute to start a faceBook group that somehow has something to do with me.  He calls it “Dem Jones Is My Homeboy.”  To my shock (and horror) people have actually joined it.  You can too if you wish. It’s right here.

TIme Warner shut off the previous owner’s cable today. That means I have no tv, and no internet. Soooo, I’d like to give a shout out to which ever one of my new neighbors has their WiFi wide open.  I’m sure they don’t even realize it’s unlocked. Lucky for them I’m a nice guy and I won’t go and rename all the tracks in their iTunes.  I’m sure they’d consider me their Homeboy for that.

What a fun night.  Last night was our company Christmas party.  It is an event that everyone in the building looks forward to all year long.  It’s massive.  3 floors of fun, drinks, food, broadcasts, coworkers, clients, and all out ridiculousness.  This year we turned it up a notch with a live performance by Gavin Rossdale of Bush and of course a Guitar Hero party in my office.

I was correct when I predicted that I’d never actually TALK to Gavin, but I can offer up this picture of me standing next to him awkwardly for 3.5 seconds.

I look like an ass, I know.

Around 9pm, I wandered into the Buzz studio for a while to get on the air with my old friend Robinson.  About 15 people joined us in studio including the lovely Leslie, owner of Lovin’ Cup in Henrietta.  It seems that my friend Robinson has quite a crush on her.  It was pretty obvious that he did after he talked about his fascination with her on the air for about 15 minutes straight.  Here’s what THAT looked like…

After the (very sober) broadcast, I headed back up to my office and was thrown into a crazy rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” on Guitar Hero.  The culprits:

Vocals: Philbilly, WCMF
Guitar: Megan Carter, 98PXY
Bass: Lumpy, WCMF
Drums: Me, and my hat.

A simple picture wouldn’t do it justice.  Enjoy the video…

Fast forward to this morning.  I had NO energy to clean my office before leaving last night.  Sooooo….I was not so shocked to find my office looking like this when I showed up today.

It looks like we had a good time…

Thanks to all  guilty parties involved.  I had fun. I hope you did too.

Sometimes I forget exactly how cool High Falls is.  It’s a little oasis in the middle of the city with open green space, awesome old architecture, and oh yeah..a big waterfall. I had a chance to take a walk around the neighborhood this morning and thought I would take some pictures to share with you.

Lets begin!

A few of us wound up going to the Stone temple Pilots show at CMAC last night.

We’d like to thank the ticket winners who failed to claim their prizes.

By the way…you’re silly.

We had mostly lawn seats, but at the last minute we scored a pair under the shell.  I never actually saw the shell seats.  Once I realized I was past the last wave of security, I simply walked to the barricade at the front of the stage.  Nobody seemed to mind so I hung out, watched the show, and snapped a few pictures for you. I didn’t have my good camera with me so you’ll have to settle for crappy cell phone pictures today.

Yesterday we hit the road and went to Darien Lake for a live broadcast from Crue Fest.  I always look forward to these road trips because they are always ridiculous.  Here are some of the pics I took of our adventure.

I got to work this morning and started my week off with a negative.  If you were listening to The Buzz over the 4th of July weekend, you probably heard that we did a “4 for Freedom Weekend“.  It was just a fun way to do something different for the long holiday weekend.  It was a lot of work, but we did it as a special little gift for you, the listener.

Over the weekend I received a few calls and emails from people saying how much they were enjoying the feature as they hung out with their friends and family.  I was feeling pretty good about it. I was happy that we put in the extra effort to make it happen…then I got an email from my boss. It was a complaint that someone had sent to him, and he forwarded it to me. Here it is:

Subject: 4play bands

How can you not play 4 from Ted Nugent. You claim you play music from the founding fathers of rock and roll, and as Mr.Nugent was celebrating his 6000th concert in Detroit Michigan, your station failed to play even 1 song from him. His song Lovejacker from the Spirit of the Wild CD,is amazing.I am a big fan of your station but lately I am becoming more and more disgusted.Thank You for your time.

Jim M.

“Disgusted”?  Really?  That’s kinda strong don’t ya think?

Well Jim, I’m sorry we let you down sir.  I hope it didn’t ruin your weekend.

The silver lining in this little cloud of negativity? Uncle Ted would be proud that you spoke your mind the way you did.  YOU sir are a True Amurican!

This place is a ghost town. Everyone has checked out for the long weekend ahead.

Those of us that are still here are OBVIOUSLY hard at work. Ahem.

Our old friend Dancing Derrick pays us a visit.  He dances in the lobby, dances on the corner, gets tossed by the property management company, and keeps on “dancin’-dancin’-dancin’!”

With our very first Your Rock Weekend just a day away, I am just too freakin’ busy to put up a video that measures up to the AWESOMENESS that I have produced so far. So here’s a very quick vid of me in my office working hard at putting together the first Your Rock Weekend. The vlog returns for real in the near future!
