I just dropped my daughter off for cheerleading tryouts. It’s day one of three. Gave her a hug and a kiss, and told her I loved her. She tried to act cool but I could tell she was a ball of nerves. I think the parents are more nervous than the girls. At least the mom’s I talked too, seemed on edge. My daughter, and her friends like Ellie, Bri and Kylie, live for cheerleading. Over the next three days, they’ll run, jump, and tumble their way onto a team. Some will make varsity and JV’s. Other’s will make the freshman team. Yes I hope she makes JV’s but if she doesn’t, I’m still very proud of her for the time and effort she has put forth preparing for tryouts. When you read this Aubrey, know that I know you gave it your all and I love you. BTW, regardless of what your brother says, cheerleading is a SPORT. Thanks for reading my blog and I’ll see you tomorrow morning on the radio.

Since I have been a life long Green Bay Packer fan, I’ve never been so disgusted by one of our own. At one time, I thought the sun rose and set in Bret Favre’s butt. However, his behavior over the past two years disturbs me. Yes, we all have a right to change our mind. He held my Packers hostage for a season or two trying to make up his mind during the off-season whether he would return as QB. Because I always thought that as long as we had #4, we had a chance to win it all. I don’t need to bore you with the details of his antics over the past two seasons. First with the Jets and now with the Vikings. A month ago he said he was retiring for good. Today we get word from FOX Sports that he has changed his mind and may play for the Minnesota Vikings this season. Since I’m a Packer fan, I hope he does because he’ll destroy the Vikings locker room and that would be great for my team. There were reports last year when he was with the Jets that he was distant from other teammates, did his own thing and really didn’t fit in. Listen, it’s a young person’s game and he’s grown old. Go home Bret, ride your tractor, sit in your deer stand and count your money. You’re a first ballot hall-of-famer. There’s a time for all of us to retire, your’s has come. Thanks for reading my blog and I’ll see you tomorrow morning on the radio.

After a two hour delay in Atlanta, my father and my niece touched down in Rochester around 7 p.m. last night. It’s good to see both of them. Over the next week I’ll show them everything Rochester has to offer. Pittsford Wegman’s, a cruise on the Canal, the Keith Urban concert, and breakfast at Rikki’s in Fairport are some of the things we have planned. When we got home last night, I served them my infamous taco soup along with cornbread. There we were, my Dad, Isaac, Aubrey, my niece Shannon and me, sitting at the kitchen table. Talking, laughing and sharing a meal. It reminded me of the way it used to be when I was a kid growing up in Baker, MT. For the first time in a very long time, I felt like we were a family once again. What a great way to start what I know is going to be a very fun week. Thanks for reading my blog. I’ll see ya on the radio.

Life comes at you fast. Aubrey, my baby girl, turns 14 on Monday. It’s seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital. She is growing up to be this beautiful young woman who is wise beyond her years. I always said if my kids had their mother’s brain and my athletic ability they’d do okay in life. She’s an excellent student so I can thank her mother for that and she’s a pretty good cheerleader so I feel blessed.

I was terrified when Linda and I divorced on what impact it would have on our kids, especially Aubrey. I’m here to say she has adjusted very well. She has a wonderful step father who treats her like one of his own and that’s all I can ask for. My daughter is very smart, very outgoing and has an incredible sense of humor. There aren’t too many people in this world who can make me laugh, she is one of them.

Aubrey is entering the 9th grade. I know the next four years of her life are going to fly by. There will be highs and some lows. Regardless, I’ll be here for you and want you to know how much I love you and how you make me proud to be your Dad. Happy 14th birthday, Aubrey. Yes, you will be getting more for your birthday than the Jason Mraz tickets.

I love my job, but I’m ready for a vacation. Normally I take the July 4th week off and spend it with the kids. This year I passed and tried to coordinate my vacation with Kimberly’s. The last couple of weeks have seemed like two months. So, Sunday my daughter and I, possibly Sugar Lips and her kids, are headed to Cleveland to watch a baseball game. Yes the Indians are hosting the Seattle Mariners. I lived in Seattle for almost 10-years and have a soft spot in my heart for the M’s. Regardless, it’ll be fun to be at the Jake and watch a major league baseball game. Yes, I love watching the Red Wings at Frontier Field but there’s nothing like watching a major league game.

Following that, we’ll head to Sandusky for a day at Cedar Point. Now, I know it’s the roller coaster capitol of America. I don’t ride, but my daughter loves roller coasters and can’t wait. We’ll return home Tuesday and I’ll be back on The Breakfast Buzz Wednesday. Am I looking forward to this little getaway? Hell’s yes! Thanks for reading my blog and we’ll see you tomorrow morning on the radio.

I’ve always said summer time jobs are a great time to discover what you don’t want to do the rest of your life. Past summer jobs for me included a lawn mowing business and working on my grandfather’s ranch, which still is probably the most physically demanding job I’ve ever had. I also worked construction a couple of summers which also left me exhausted at the end of the day. Oh, and then my buddy Steve Pinnow left for the Marines and I was asked when between my junior and senior year in high school, if I wanted to replace him. It was only a Sunday morning job between 7 and noon and all I had to do was sit on my butt. So, I accpeted. Oh, the job was at KFLN in Baker, MT. I had a one hour show playing music followed by four hours of religious programming which I named “The God Squad.” Little did I know that I discovered my passion that summer and it lead to a career in broadcasting. Be careful of those summer jobs, you may discover something you’d like to do the rest of your life. Thanks for reading my blog and I’ll see you tomorrow on The Breakfast Buzz.

" target="_blank">rochesterbuzz.com and get in on the half price hookups. $50 gift card for only $25.00 More info available at www.jasminesasianfusion.com Trust me, I love this place. Thanks for reading my blog and I’ll see you tomorrow on the radio.

The weekend turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I thought I had Isaac and Aubrey but I got the scheduled mixed up and had the weekend to myself. So, what’s a guy to do?

Friday night, Sugar Lips invited me to have dinner. We wound up at the Dakota. Excellent fish fry. Dave Dansek is the owner and a good friend of 98.9 The Buzz. Great service and great food. I must remind you that the “Ride to the Dakota” to benefit Vietnam Vets happens Sunday, June 21st. Listen to the Breakfast Buzz for all the details.

Saturday morning I worked out at the Rec Center in Perinton. Marcie NiCastro taught the glass and does a great job. A little cardio, a ton of weight work, along with some boxing made for an incredible 90-minute workout. If you’re up to the challenge, Marcie teaches this class Saturday mornings at 7:30 at the Rec Center in Perinton. Walk-ins are welcome.

Saturday night I was out on the West side for a party. The guys were gathered in the living room watching the Celtics v. Bulls game and the Stanley Cup playoffs. The women seemed to stay in the kitchen where the cocktails were flowing and the rumors were flying. I left around 11:00 but many stayed well into the night.

Sunday morning I couldn’t help but take my first bike ride of the year. Wow. What a beautiful morning. Traffic was at a minimum. It was just me, my bike and the open road. Got in a very enjoyable 15 mile ride. I know I come across as a dork when I talk about bike riding but it truly is one of my favorite forms of exercise. If you haven’t tried it, rent a bike and take it for a ride along the canal. You’ll thank me.

Sunday I hooked up with Isaac and Aubrey for brunch at Rikki’s, a landmark on main in Fairport. I’ve been missing my kids since they spend spring break with their mother. Isaac is all man and Aubrey is growing up to be this beautiful young lady. Isaac has his junior prom next Saturday night. Don’t even ask me how much this is going to cost his mother and me. Tux, tickets and limo for the night. Not cheap but you can’t put a price on memories.

Sunday afternoon I took a nap on the couch while watching the NBA, then it was on to Fleet Feet to buy a new pair of running shoes. With the nice weather, John H. at the DFC says it’s time for me to start running again. I can’t argue with him so I’ll start off slow and maybe run a couple of 5K’s this summer.

Periodically, people ask me how I spend my weekends. So, now you know. Thanks for reading my blog and I’ll see you tomorrow morning on the radio.

I can’t imagine what the parents of Brittanee Drexel are going through. Britanee is the 17-year-old Chili teen who has been missing since Saturday night. She was vacationing with friends in Myrtle Beach and disappeared while walking. Her mother, boyfriend and other friends are in Myrtle Beach searching for her. Being the parent of a 17-year-old and 13-year-old, this is my worst nightmare. I know as a parent one of my biggest jobs is to make sure my kids are safe. As they get older, this becomes more difficult but it doesn’t stop me from trying. If they are staying overnight with a friend, I try to call that friend’s parents to make sure they are in the “know.” Yes my kids think I’m being over protective but that doesn’t stop me from doing it. Am I the only parent with a knot in my stomach 24/7. Some days it’s the size of a peanut, with stories of a child disappearing, it’s the size of a basketball. May we all pray for the the safe return of Brittanee Drexel. Until then, the supersized knot remains in my stomach. Thanks for reading my blog and I’ll see you tomorrow morning on the radio.

I surprised Sugar Lips, my girlfriend, with an early birthday gift. Picked her up on Friday afternoon and took her to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Discovered a couple of things about her. She gets car sick so she drove. Not a problem. Sometimes it’s good to be a passenger. Plus, she has a much better sense of direction than I do.

We stayed at the Pillar and Post. I would highly recommend it. Got a package that included a very nice room with a fireplace. We also had a delicious meal at the Pillar and Post restaurant. The salmon is delicious. Served over mashed potatoes with spinach. It was really one of the best pieces of salmon I’ve ever had. After that we enjoyed their natural springs outdoor hot tub. It features a waterfall. Maybe it was a little to relaxing since we went back to our room and fell asleep. The next morning we had 9 o’clock massages. If you’ve never had a massage, you’re missing out on one of the greatest things you can do for yourself. After that, we headed back to Rochester but not before we stopped in Buffalo to have lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. I know we’re in a recession but you could never tell it by the number of people I see eating out. The place was packed. The only downside of the weekend was that Sugar Lips got a stomach virus on Saturday following the massage and couldn’t shake it until late Sunday night. Overall, it’s an easy 90-minute drive from Rochester and I know I’ll return to the Pillar and Post soon. If you want a romantic getaway, give them a call and impress the lady in your life. Thanks for reading my blog and I’ll see you tomorrow morning on the radio.

Saturday is my birthday. I must tell you, this past year has been a good one. Yes, I have had some highs and lows but overall, I’m very happy with my life. As I sit her soaking up the sun and taking inventory of this past year, some of the highs include taking a ski vacation to Park City, Utah and three days on the slopes of Deer Valley. I finished first in my age group in a spring duathlon at Mendon Ponds. Thanks to John H. at the DFC, he got me in the best shape of my life. Now, I will tell you I have slipped some in the workout dept. because of plantar’s faciatis in my left foot. Yes it’s getting better but I’m still not back to 100-percent. I officially became a “cheer dad” and watched my daughter perform for Fairport. I am very proud of her. I watched my son find a great sport, karate, and saw him compete. I too am very proud of the man he’s becoming. Oh, he also cost me a few sleepless hours since he got his driver’s license. Any parent with teenagers know what I’m experiencing.

My love life took a very interesting twist this past year. While I was taking a “break” from dating, the most incredible woman came into my life. I knew within five minutes of meeting this lady, even if she had a peanut shell in her teeth, that she was very special. She has a smile that lights up a room, a sense of humor that makes me laugh, a kiss I long for when I’m not with her, she’s sexy and I know I’m a better person when I’m around her. Yoga has taught me to live in the moment. I’m doing that. But I also feel we have a very bright future together. Oh, I should also add that she’s smokin’ hot and a great mom.

I count my blessings every morning when the alarm goes off at 2:30 a.m., that I’m surrounded by two of the best people I’ve every worked with. Kimberly continues to amaze me both professionally and personally. I couldn’t be happier for her and Mt. Morris. This is the happiest I’ve ever seen her. Pat, our producer, works his ass off more than many of you imagine. Thanks to his efforts, our show is a success.

Goodbye to 51 and hello to 52. It’s going to be a great year for all of us. I need to thank each one of you for reading my blog and making The Breakfast Buzz a part of your morning. I’ll see ya tomorrow morning on the radio.

Syracuse just finished an incredible run in the Big East Tourney at MSG. Next up, the road to the Final Four begins with a Friday night game against Stephen F. Austin in Miami. Syracuse helped their cause with outstanding play and wound up with a #3 seed.

Every sports fan remembers a game that made them a fan of that sport. I’ll show my age and tell you the Ice Bowl between the Packers and Cowboys made me a fan of the NFL. I remember watching that game with my Dad, Uncle Otto and cousins Brian and Dennis like it happened yesterday. I became a March Madness guy going back some 30-years when Magic Johnson and Larry Bird faced off for the college basketball championship. Yes, Michigan State won the game. Thursday’s night’s six overtime epic between Syracuse and UCONN will be that game for some young fan. A game that you’ll remember for a lifetime. You stayed up until 1:20 a.m. to watch the Orange finally take a lead in the six overtime and hold on for a win. You’ll remember the shot Devo made but did not count because time had expired. As Coach Jim B. said, “You’re going to remember the Orange-UCONN game and you’re going to remember how we doing starting Friday.” Thursday at noon, 64 teams tip it off with hopes of making it to the Final Four in Detroit. Watch because you might miss the next six overtime game. Go Orange! BTW, who ya got winning it all in the office pool?

My parents always told me, “Tell the truth because the truth will set you free!” Nothing could be more true in this day and age when no one wants to take responsibility for their actions. Case and point: Alex Rodriquez. Yes I am a Yankee fan but the guy is a liar. He lied to Katie Couric a couple of years ago when asked if he had ever used HGH or steroids. Then a couple of weeks ago when an SI reporter was ready to break the news that A-Rod had done roids, he came forth and told the truth. Then be began to point fingers at a cousin and a trainer who is now banned from every major league clubhouse in this country. His news conference at the Yankee’s training facility was a joke. I no longer believe anything that comes out of this guy’s mouth.

On the other hand, Charles Barkley did the right thing. He made a mistake, drinking and driving, and got caught. When he returned to NBA telecasts on TNT last week, he came out and said he was 100% responsible for his actions. He admitted to being stupid and then promised us that it will NEVER happen again. I have a tendency to believe him. Oh, he is also going to serve five days in jail for his actions. Did he lose his job, endorsements deals, etc. NO because he admitted his mistake and didn’t blame anyone else for his actions. My point: Hey, we all mess up in life. But when you admit your mistakes and apologize from the heart, I will forgive you and I think the majority of Americans will forgive you. However, once a liar, always a liar.

Just returned from a ski vacation to Park City, Utah. If you ski, you probably know that Deer Valley is the #1 resort in America according to countless survey’s in “Ski” magazine. So, as a belated birthday gift to myself, I said I was going to ski Deer Valley.

Trust me when I say I felt like I had died and gone to ski heaven. It’s everything you’ve read about it and then some. The mountain is beautiful, the slopes are groomed to perfection and the food is some of the best I’ve tasted. Sorry boarders, it’s a “ski only” mountain. I skied my ass off for three days. Then I would return to my studio condo, eat some dinner, go to bed and do it all over again. See why Kimberly calls me “Captain Excitement!” Besides my trip to Big Sky Resort in Montana with my kids, this is a very close second when it comes to vacations. Don’t know when, but I will return to the slopes of Deer Valley some day. Until then, I’ll be happy to get my ski fix at Swain, Bristol, or take a trek to Vermont to ski Stratton. If you’re interested, I’ve posted some pictures of my vacation. Check them out for yourself.

Oh, if you’re like me and get lost at ski resorts, I have a solution. Met a guy, named Paul. He’s basically a personal guide and ski instructor at Deer Valley, Snowbird and Alta. Besides a great skier, he also gave me countless tips during our adventure. Why would you hire this guy? Because he knows the mountain like the back of his hand. Within a day, he took me places that I would have never discovered on my own. Here’s his email address if you’re considering a trip to Utah. I’d highly recommend him. Again, his name is Paul and you can contact him at PFMski at aol.com Remember, think snow!

From everyone I’ve spoken with, Kenny Chesney and LeAnn Rhimes put on an incredible show Tuesday night at CMAC. But almost everyone is bitching about the traffic. 13,000 showed up for the show. Of course the traffic is going to be horrible. When you get a big name artist, the masses are going to show. With that comes traffic. There were shuttle buses running from Fingerlakes. How many tried taking them? Also, look at a map. There’s another way to get to CMAC if you’re able to read a map. My girlfriend is an excellent map reader so she gives me directions as I drive. Now, with that said, I understand the need for more law enforcement to be on hand to direct traffic. But, if you want to go see the big name acts at CMAC, plan ahead, go early, and expect that there’s going to be traffic. Welcome to the BIG TIME!

There are many things to enjoy about our fine city. Having lived here close to seven years, I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite things about Western New York. Please feel free to email me and add to my list. I’d love to hear from you.

Favorite Personal Trainer: John H. at the Downtown Fitness Club. In a matter of 7 months, he’s got me in the best shape of my life. A combination of exercise, diet and mental toughness are his big three. As John says, “No excuses, just results.”

Favorite Fitness Instructor: A toss-up between Roxanne Stanley at Midtown Athletic Club and Marcie NiCastro at the Rec Center in Perinton. Both will kick your ass when it comes to cardio and weights. They also inspire you to do your best even on days when you’re dead tired.

Favorite Breakfast: The blueberry pancakes at Hicks n’ McCarthy. It’s also the first place I took my girlfriend for brunch almost two years ago!

Favorite Bar Sandwich: Pulled Pork at Donnelley’s in Fairport. It’s incredible. And, ask to be seated in Sherri’s section. She’s one of my favorite servers in Rochester.

Favorite Salad: As you know, I love Caesar salads. There’s none better, in my humble opinion, than Aladdin’s in Pittsford. My second favorite is the flank steak salad at Jo Jo’s. However, ask for the dressing on the side. Plus, say “hi” to Jackie at Jo Jo’s, my friend and favorite bartender.

Favorite Place to Hang with my Girlfriend: Pomodoro’s. The outdoor bar in the summer on a sunny day is the best. The pizza and bowtie caesar salad are also a couple of my favorites.

Favorite Bike Shop: Full Moon Vista on St. Paul Street. Scott Page is the owner. He went the extra mile when it came to getting me on a bike. He’ll ask you a series a questions, then recommend a couple of bikes and leave the decision up to you. Love this guy. Also, the service dept. is top notch.

Favorite Theater: The Little. Every other place is a distant second. Oh, the popcorn is fresh. Unlike some theater chains who still pop it the day before, heat it up and try to pass it off as fresh.

Favorite Summer Drink: Venti Iced Black Tea from Starbucks. Love the sweetened version. I can actually thank my son, Isaac, for turning me on to this. If you like the drink, you can make it yourself. It’s Tazo Black Tea Awake available at Starbucks or for about half the price at Wegman’s.

Thanks for reading my list of favorites. Again, forward me some of your favorites and I’ll be happy to post them. I’ll see ya on the radio tomorrow morning around 5 a.m.

June 26th marked the one year anniversary of that tragic traffic accident that took the lives of five Fairport High School graduates. The families of the five girls killed were all contacted by TV stations for interviews. Only one family wanted to go on-camera. The remaining four issued a press statement. I can’t imagine the pain that still haunts these families. I lost a sister many years ago, I was in 6th grade and she was going into 4th, who passed away from spinal menengitis and I remember it like it was yesterday. No parent should have to bury a child. My father told me you are never the same person after losing a child, you just learn to live with the pain. Some days the pain hits you harder than others. I’m sure Thursday was a painful day for many in Fairport. Did we survive? Yes. However, the angels will always be on our minds and in our hearts. Witness the number of red ribbons you see on cars the next time you drive through the area. My mother always told me that things happen for a reason. Now, a year later, I’m still asking myself, why? God bless you Sarah, Baily, Hannah, Meredith and Katie.

Lois, Kimberly’s mother, called in this morning to update us on Kimberly’s surgery yesterday at the Wilmot Cancer Center. They removed a lump about the size of a quarter. Nothing else seemed to jump out at them during the surgery. Kimberly is recovering at home. She’ll return to Wilmot on Friday for a post-op. She also has 8-weeks of radiation that the doctor has recommended. So, we’ll know more Monday when she returns to The Breakfast Buzz. Continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks for all your support.

A father in Canada grounded his daughter from a scheduled school trip because she disobeyed his orders to stay off the internet, but instead of accepting his punishment, the 12-year-old girl took her father to court and got the grounding overturned. Court records indicated the 12-year-old’s violation of her home’s internet rules was just one in a list of instructions that she had violated, including posting inappropriate photos of herself online. The Superior Court judge said the punishment was just too much! Give me a break. The poor little girl doesn’t like the punishment handed down by daddy so she’ll go to someone until she gets her way. Has she been pushing her dad around her entire like? I would bet on it. Lack of discipline is what is killing this country. I can’t imagine what will happen in school if a teacher tries to set her straight? As a parent of two wonderful children, and trust me I’ve got my issues, I’d pull the computer out of the house and the girl wouldn’t have access to the internet. While I’m at it, she’d lose her cell phone. Let her slam the door to her bedroom and I’d remove that from the hinges. When the courts allow the parents to parent, it’ll make better kids and a stronger society. Believe it or not, kids need structure and discipline whether they like it or not. So, to all the parents that are giving their children those two things, I salute you and wish you the best of luck. Parenting, it’s the toughest job you’ll ever love.

I’ve met a ton of people in this business we call “radio.” There’s not a nicer guy than Pete Kennedy. He follows us on the Workday Buzz. I used to listen and admire him when he worked at PXY. Since coming over, I’ve got a greater appreciation of him, personally and professionally. For example, a few weeks ago I invited him out to my Friday night happy hour at the Baird Road Pub, 31 F in Fairport. Shameless plug. He not only showed, but brought a large group of friends. He made the happy hour. There’s a reason they call this guy the “Mayor.” The sign of a true professional is someone who makes those around him better. Pete Kennedy is one of those guys. So, the next time you run into him, buy him a Coors Light and tell him how much you appreciate his work on 98.9 The Buzz and in our community. He’s one great guy.

Ken Griffy Junior hit his 600th homerun Monday night. I lived in Seattle when Junior roamed centerfield as a teen .. yes he started playing for the Mariners when he was a teenager. He still has the sweetest swing in all of baseball. Plus, hitting 600 HR’s and steroid free makes it even that greater an accomplishment. If he could have remained injury free, he could have hit 700 HR’s. Regardless, he’s a lock for Cooperstown. It was a joy just to watch him play centerfield and run down fly balls that no one else had a chance at catching. With the bat and the glove, he’s what’s right about baseball. Congrats Junior of hitting #600!

So often when I attend a concert I’m disappointed in the sound. Why? I have this theory that these sound guys travel from show to show and are DEAF! When they set up the sound, it’s good to them. To the average person, it’s crap. Grab a couple of fans for the sound check, listen to what they have to say, and adjust accordingly. Having the sound guy making the adjustments would be like taking a driving class from someone who is blind. Sorry, but is just doesn’t make sense to me.

Oh, while I’m venting. Stop texting during a movie. It’s rude and inconsiderate to the people around you who are distracted by the light coming from your phone. And, if your phone rings, answer it, get out of your seat, and talk in the hallway. Don’t sit there during the movie and carry on a conversation. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE! With that said, the new release of the I-phone on July 11th has me excited. I may actually take the plunge into the cell phone poll. The new I-phone will run you $199 or $299. I played with one at the AT&T store on Winton road a couple of weeks ago. Love it.

My mother died from lung cancer. Kimberly’s dad passed away from cancer. My sister is a breast cancer survivor. Just the thought of threat scares me to death. Kimberly, who is my partner and has become a BEST friend, went in for a mamogram Tuesday. She called me Tuesday night around 8 p.m. She said they found something. It was not and could not be detected through self-examination. Is it cancer? She won’t know until she goes in for another exam Friday or Monday. I did not sleep well Tuesday night as you can imagine. My mind went everywhere from how will her daughter handle the news to how much more can one woman take. Divorce, having your mom move in, and now the thought of cancer. I do believe in a higher power. I hope you do too. Please say a prayer for Kimberly and send her good thoughts. We can only hope and pray that it is non-cancerous. If you want to read more about what Kimberly is experiencing, you can read her blog. And so it goes …

Yes I love my kids and they are a constant source of material for The Breakfast Buzz. Last night I was an extremely proud parent as I attended my 7th grade daughter’s award ceremony. She was given an award for being an exceptional role model. Her grades are excellent and she is growing up too fast for my tastes. But there she stood on stage with a number of other students accepting awards for being outstanding in various subject matters.

I also have to congratulate Chris Martin. He’s a retiring math teacher in the Fairport School District. He got a standing ovation from the parents and students in attendance. We all have teachers that make an impact in our lives and remember them for years. For my Aubrey, Mr. Martin is one of those teachers. He’s done an excellent job with her. So, the next time you see one of your children’s teacher, thank them and tell them to have a great summer. They all deserve it.

Text messaging. It’s the new form of rudeness. Prior to the awards ceremony, Mr. Dunn announced that the auditorium at “text free” zone for the next 60-minutes. Bravo. Could we also have that rule in place for movie theaters, concerts, office meetings, etc. Nothing is more distractive than being in the middle of a meeting, having your phone sound, and you feel the need to return the text. Really, what can be that important? Now I’ll get off my soap box. Thanks for reading my rants. Feel free to respond to this or any previous blog.

“If people didn’t care, they wouldn’t comment” .. that was a quote a program director told me early in my radio career. It really took me years to realize what he was saying. Or, as Kimberly says, “If you agree with us, great. If you disagree with us, even better.”

Here’s a couple of emails I received this week from listeners who are not happy. Enjoy!
Beck,

I was appalled and disgusted this morning while listening to the buzz (around 6:30). Kimberly and Beck were discussing the 16-year-old boy who was killed in Rochester on Monday night, Daniel Davis. They had a phone call on the air from a man who was claiming that his 16-year-old daughter is home every night by 8pm; his opinion was that Daniel’s parents should have known where Daniel was and what he was doing. It was at this point that Beck said something to the effect of “Maybe what we should do is pull them [police officers] off the streets and let them all kill each other.” (He may have said “…let them take each other out”.)

I have never moved so quickly to turn the radio OFF. I was shocked to hear a talk-show DJ make such a ridiculously obvious bigoted, ignorant and hateful remark. Beck obviously has no idea what kind of power and responsibility comes along with being on the radio for a few hours each day. When you have so many people listening to your opinions, you are not only representing yourself, but also the company you work for. I will NEVER, EVER listen to 98.9 again unless justice is done and Beck is permanently replaced (and I don’t mean moved to another Entercom radio station). Your radio station has been removed from all of my radio settings, and I have made it a point to tell my family, friends and co-workers what I heard this morning.

Had I not been on my way to work, I would have called to ask Beck exactly who “THEM” is. I bet he couldn’t have honestly answered THAT without losing his job.

Sincerely,

Amy

Dear Beck,

I am a recent attendee of the Irondequoit Prom at the Harro East Ballroom on Sunday. I’ve always loved to listen in the morning buzz but on Tuesday morning I was called down to listen to Kimberly talk rudely and very opinionated about things she doesn’t know. To make things very clear… No one was swinging on the lights, since they were 15 ft above our heads. Kimberly is that dumb to even think that students who are 16,17 and 18 years old could reach the lights. Lets be real now, people were dancing and not paying attention to the lights that were on the stage and the people who could see them, like my best friend, watch them slowly fall down like time was slowing down. She was in the hitting zone but luckily her dancing partner pushed her so she wouldn’t get hurt. Chaperones were all around us but they didn’t see a problem with the dancing on stage because it wasn’t getting out of hand.

The News isn’t correct either, yes 13 went to the hospital and the light structure fell but kids weren’t hanging on the lights.Watch the video from 13 WHAM News… my best friends were interviewed

http://www.13wham.com/mediacenter/local.aspx?videoid=194553@video.wokr13.com&navCatId=5

KIMBERLY IS THE DUMBASS OF THE MORNING GROUP….. Beck thanks to you, she can be shut up!!!

From your listener

Carla W.
