Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone at Aquinas today after the terrible tragedy over the weekend.  Aquinas is mourning the loss of Joseph Mueller who was killed in a horrible accident on Ling Rd. early Saturday morning.  Only 17 years old and his life snuffed away, leaving many families in deep shock and sorrow.  3 kids cruising in a car late at night and now hundreds of people feeling the incredible pain.  AQ is a small family, a community deeply affected by this brutal chain of events.  My nephew Dylan Pinto goes to AQ, and after speaking with him this weekend, I know how much hurt there is up on Dewey Ave. at the school.  I wish the Mueller family peace and pray for all involved in this horrific tragedy.  Bishop Matthew Clark stated it properly yesterday after a prayer vigil at the school. “It’s tragic from every direction.  This is a very dark moment for them.”  God bless them all and God bless our troops.

My last post dealt with greed.  What is the opposite?  Giving to help others. Here are a few suggestions this weekend if you’re in the mood and aren’t watching the hoops on the tube all weekend.

++ Tonight at the Clarion (soon-to-be Radisson) Hotel it’s Jim Kelly’s annual fundraiser for Hunter’s Hope.  All in memory of the Hall of Fame QB’s son Hunter. Keep an eye out for Steve Hausmann and Mike Davis from the Buzz to be there.  Details at www.huntershope.org.

++ Tomorrow join me at RIT for the annual Ronald McDonald House high school all*star basketball games. Section 5’s best senior hoop players put on a show to raise $$$ for the fine work done at the Ronald McDonald House over by Strong Memorial Hospital.  The girls hit the court at 1p, followed by the boys around 3ish. It’s always an entertaining show, so cruise on by RIT.  You’ll have to put up with me as the PA announcer for the games.

++ Sunday at the Hyatt Regency Hotel it’s the Gilda’s Club Fashion Show starring cancer survivors who walk the runway in stylish fashionwear.  Very inspiring and it’s always nice to look at beautiful women. Our own Mike Rockwell will be on hand to keep an eye on things for the Buzz.  For details call 423.9700.

Giving back is good. Better than greed. Don’t forget our fundraiser for RPD Officer Tony DiPonzio at the Knighthawks game on April 18th.  Call 454.5335 for details and keep the support for Tony coming.  God bless the DiPonzios and our troops everywhere!

Just saw on the net that Michael Vick was let out of federal prison today to go to bankruptcy court.  Man, what a fall for this guy.  Can you even imagine how much money Vick blew, all for the “love” of dog fighting?  He was on top of the world just a couple of years ago, the face of the franchise for the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL, making millions for playing ball, and many more millions for endorsements.  Livin’ the life.  And now, after being convicted on federal charges related to illegal gambling and dog fighting, he’s bankrupt.  Kind of the same story as Wall Street.  All the big rollers were gambling and blew it, causing the titantic fall of our economy.  At least Vick did time and now has to attempt a gigantic comeback.  Guess he got it better than Bernie Madoff who’s doing 150 years for his misdeeds.  But at least Bernie didn’t kill any dogs, as far as we know.  Madoff did certainly kill some dreams though.  Isn’t greed a great thing?

Speaking of athletes, turns out T.O. wasn’t blowing off the Bills training sessions just to hang on the beach.  Terrell Owens is in NYC receiving an award for bringing awareness to the Alzheimers Association.  Maybe he’s not as big a dummy as everybody always speculates.  And maybe he actually does some nice things for people other than himself.  Let’s hope he keeps surprising the NFL and helps the Bills come back to be the respected franchise it was in the 90s.  If they get back to the playoffs this year, hell…give him the key to Buffalo.

The key to our nations survival has always been the hard work and dedication of our military.  God bless our troops!

Man, isn’t life so much better when the sun is shining brightly?  Normally March brings weird weather with rain and snow thrown in to mess with us.  I have no complaints about this March so far.  One week to go and it’s been no problem.  Keep it coming…

Had a grand time in Geneva celebrating Lt. Ron O’Brien’s retirement from the Ontario Co. Sheriffs Office Friday night at Club 86.  Sheriff Phil Povero did an excellent job of MCing the night, and it was fun seeing alot of my buddies from Ontario Co.  A trip to Geneva is never complete without a stop at Gallaghers downtown.  Enjoyed a night of beers and heckling there.  Love the place cuz it never changes.  And the Coors Light mountains are always blue.

Saturday made a trip with my attorney Tom DeSimon to check life in Honeyoe.  Had lunch at Raymonds Valley Inn where the food from Ray was delicious, the service from Sharon was friendly and the conversation keen.  Nice place to try if you’re around Honeyoe Lake this summer.   Later we did the northern tour of Olies in Summerville and Paddys in Greece to check out the NCAA Madness.  By Sunday, I needed live ball action so I watched the Razorsharks absolutely hammer the woeful team from Buffalo.  Never a doubt as the Sharks won by 45.  Afterwards I joined the team for post-game at Matthews on East Ave.  Thanks to Amber, Pete and Carl for putting up with our loudness during the game.  Then we wandered into the new Murphys Law @ East and Alexander.  Jenna was our adorable bartender and it’s a nice new irish themed joint in the East End.  Always good to check some new spots out for future reconn.  One thing that is not new to me: the dedication that our military displays everyday, whether it’s here at home or overseas. In harm’s way or not, they serve and protect us 24/7 and it is much appreciated. God bless our troops!

For those of you who don’t know, we have something called a delay. Basically what it does is delays the audio we broadcast about 30 seconds, so when you are listening to us on the radio you’re hearing us 30 seconds delayed. We have this because we are a live call in show and there is always the possibility that someone may slip and drop a word you can’t say on the radio or TV.

I’ve noticed lately that the ‘S’ word seems to be popping out of caller’s mouths a lot. Now it’s no big deal because we jsut hit the dump button when that happens, but people seem to literally not know it’s not OK to say that.

Why? Maybe because the word is OK to say late night on some cable networks. Maybe because it’s used so commonly now that it’s becoming an acceptable word. I’m not sure… but I will say it’s not OK to say on the air here. I wish it were, I’m all for freedom of speech and really feel like you should be able to say anything, but the FCC disagrees and I value my job so please don’t use that, or any other of the 7 words you can’t say on radio or TV when on the air with us.

Love you guys!
